Monday - We will finish our Figurative Language Summative Assessment and watch a video clip of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."
Tuesday - We will begin working with ACT/SAT vocabulary. We will learn 5 new words each Vocab Day. As we begin to dive into Grammar, we will start with the 8 parts of speech. Students will take notes and create a graphic orga nizer in their interactive notebooks. As a class we will look at a short story and word sort the words into the parts of speech graphic organizer.
Wednesday - Students will write a journal entry for 15 minutes. We will begin to learn about effective speech writing. Teacher will directly instruct students on element of speeches using a power point, and video clips of good speeches by U.S. Citizens. Students will record notes in their notebooks.
Thursday - This is a vocab day. Students will learn 5 new vocabulary words with activities. We will look closely at verb usage and verb agreement in practice from: http://english.clas.asu.edu/enged-grammarpractice
Friday - Students will write a journal entry for 15 minutes. Students will read “I Have a Dream” and identify 5 elements every great speech has.
